Beyond the buzzword: What a Coach can really do for you
A coach can help when you're faced with a challenge and you're unsure how to approach it.
The word "coaching" is becoming increasingly common, yet it can sometimes be unclear exactly what a coach can do for you. From sports to business, professional to personal, there's a coach for almost every area of life. So, how does their guidance translate into real, impactful change?
To illustrate, let's consider the familiar example of a sports coach. You might seek out a sports coach when you have a specific problem to solve – perhaps you need to lose 20 kilos for health reasons and feel completely lost on where to begin. Alternatively, you might engage a coach when you've set an ambitious goal, like signing up for a marathon in six months when your current maximum run is 10 kilometers.
In both scenarios, and indeed in any situation where you work with any type of coach, you're faced with the challenge of improving your current situation, but you're not quite sure how to approach it to achieve your desired outcome. This is precisely where the guidance of a coach can help.
The framework
At Globalitude, our coaching programs begin by establishing the key parameters to build the framework towards your goal. It's like visualizing the end line from the point of departure.
The Goal: What is the concrete, specific goal (or goals) you'd like to achieve? If you’re unsure, we’ll build them together.
The Gap: Where are you standing today in relation to where you aspire to be? Understanding this difference is crucial for mapping out your journey.
The Time: Do you have a specific date or deadline in mind to reach your goal? This helps us create a realistic and actionable timeline.
The Context: Are there any further pieces of information or potential constraints we should take into account? This will ensure a coaching plan that fits you well and is doable for you.
With this information we'll create a personalized Coaching Plan that lays out a clear roadmap to your goals, with the flexibility to be adapted as we progress through your sessions to ensure it always aligns with your needs.
The Phases
While every plan is unique, our programs usually follow a three-phase approach:
Phase 1: Blockers’ Management. During this initial phase, we will identify and work through various elements that may be negatively impacting your performance and overall well-being. By addressing these foundational issues, we clear the path for progress.
Phase 2: Roadmap Execution. This is where we fully immerse ourselves in practical tools and techniques designed to enhance your performance and well-being. We'll actively work on reducing the "gap" and guiding you steadily towards your target.
Phase 3: Wrap-up and Beyond. In this final phase, we polish the last details to help you reach your goal with confidence. We'll reflect on the results achieved, assess your satisfaction, and most importantly, celebrate your successes. Then, we look forward: "Now that you have reached this point, what comes next for you?"
Your part to play!
The most crucial understanding when working with a coach is that we are there to help you find the answers within yourself. We help you get the results you want for yourself. We hold you accountable, lift you up when your motivation dips, accompany your process, and highlight every single step of progress you make.
However, just like getting ready to run a marathon, the only one who can truly do the work is you. A coach will only help you achieve results if you commit to the effort and show up every day, ready to work towards your progress.
If you know that something in your life needs to change, and you're ready to put in the work to make it better, but you're not sure where to start or how to make it happen, we would be honored to support your journey and witness you reach all your personal and professional goals.
